It is a place wher the first Chogyal (King) of Sikkim was conscerated by three great Lamas. Situated close to Khanchendzonga, is surrounded by the clear mini lakes and serves as the trial head for those who want to trek to Dzongri or Goechala.
A glimpse of the monastery's chorten is believed to cleanse all the sins. The chorten contains the relics of Goddess Munjushri.
It means the " Sublime Perfect Lotus ". Situated 130Km. from Gangtok, Pemayangste the paramount of the Nyingmapa monastries, signifies purity. The mask dance showing good over the evil is performed. It is regarded as Sikkim's most prestigious centre of religious learning.
This is otherwise called the " wishing lake ", surrounded by thick woods. It also boasts an extraordinary legend -- Whenever a leaf drops on its surface, a guardian bird carries it away, and the water remains crystal clear.
The bridge is the highest of its kind in Asia. The falls are very beautiful and serene in its own way.
The road to the valley of flowers is a house of tremendous beautiful landscapes, filled with beautiful flowers, and ridged by breathtaking waterfalls. This flat valley of 12,500 ft. has hot springs, rhododendrons of different colours and other flowers.It creates such a memorable picture, that leaves you forever in its spell.
It was built in eighteenth century and belongs to the Kagyupa sect. The monastery is situated little away from the road to North Sikkim and is isolated.
